The role:
Basic Function:
Design & development of products and tooling to ensure good manufacturability

Principal Job Duties:

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with customer counterparts to complete design for manufacture activities
  • Suggest improvement ideas to customers in good time
  • Support the sales department to win business by providing technical input to customer communication
  • Support quotation, component development, and production stages of the project lifecycle
  • Assist the development and implementation of tooling and equipment to launch new products with reasonable investment
  • Provide support to manufacturing to improve quality and productivity
  • Create and maintain 2D and 3D data for products and tooling
  • Comply with all company health, safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures
  • Participate with team working, information sharing and continuous improvement programmes
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Criteria:

  • Third level qualification in an engineering discipline (degree, HND, HNC or equivalent)
  • Previous design experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
  • Well developed 2D and 3D CAD skills (preferably Siemens NX, Catia or other 3D system)
  • IT literate, proficient in MS Office
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
  • Customer focus and teamwork skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and experience in the die casting industry  
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/technique
  • Knowledge of or interest in the automotive industry
