Housing Support Worker- Permanent – Full Time (35 hrs p/wk)

Primary purpose of the role
To provide Housing Support to individuals to attain and sustain their tenancies in the community.

Key accountabilities
Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:
Provide interim person-centred support to people in local communities across BCM housing support projects
Develop professional working relationships with service users and the wider community to maximise opportunities for community access for service users
Provide practical, hands-on support including motivation with cleaning, cooking, budgeting, shopping, decorating etc.
To support individuals to work towards their desired outcomes guided by shared & agreed needs assessments, support plans and risk assessments with timely reviews
Liaise with other agencies (NIHE, Social Services, Community groups) to ensure your service users' needs are met
Maintain accurate and detailed electronic records in relation to all work activities
Meet relevant project deadlines
Adhere to all relevant legislation and BCM policies and procedures
Actively promote and engage in Service User involvement activities
Be available to work at times appropriate to the changing needs of the Service user and project requirements
Provide support to BCM volunteers when required
Ensure that each job task you undertake reflects BCM’S core values
Undertake additional tasks which the organisation deems to be within your area or training, expertise and/or experience


Minimum 2 years’ experience in supporting individuals in the community
Excellent ability to communicate at all levels e.g., older people; younger people; families; external agencies
Demonstrated IT literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Excellent time management skills and ability to organise time effectively
Ability to adapt existing skills to new situations
Be of a kind and caring disposition with a high degree of empathy
Be passionate about working with disadvantaged or marginalized individuals
Ability to work a part of a team to achieve goals and quality outcomes
Possess a full UK driving license and have access to a car


Good knowledge of housing issues and the relevant systems.

QCF level 2 or 3 in health and social care
Current registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council or willingness to obtain
