We are hugely proud of the work we are carrying out supporting various COVID projects globally and have been privileged to support the Pfizer and BioNTech clinical study in the development of a vaccine. Significant progress has been made in this trial and we received extremely positive news that the vaccine has been approved for emergency use, with the first vaccines having already been administered across Northern Ireland.

Almac are performing a range of services to continue to support this clinical study which includes secondary labelling, storage, distribution, provision of depots, temperature management through our TempEZ™ platform, drug returns and pharmacist services right across the globe.  We are proud to have played our part in the fight against COVID-19.

In addition, our bespoke temperature controlled shipping solution, Almac Pod™, is being used to transport the vaccine in the required frozen condition to investigator sites across the world which provides assurance that the patient receives a stable, fit-for-purpose drug which has not been compromised at any stage.

The role

This is a unique position which will work alongside Pfizer colleagues/contractors and unblinded CRAs to provide Investigational Product handling and management support to investigator sites participating in Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine programme.

The role holder shall provide site guidance and training to pharmacy personnel in all aspects of IP handling, preparation and administration as directed by the Pfizer Clinical Research Pharmacy.

The successful candidates will undergo an intensive training programme with Pfizer to ensure they are trained in the protocol and associated requirements. It is anticipated that training for the position will commence in February/March 2021.

**Please note this role is being offered on an initial 5 month fixed term basis, supporting investigational sites globally.  There may be some flexibility on hours, provided that coverage over peak times is maintained.

Essential Criteria

  • M.Pharm in Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Hold a current registration with a relevant pharmacy Regulator e.g.GPhC, PSNI, PSI
  • A minimum of three years post registration experience of practising as a Pharmacist in an industrial, hospital or retail setting

Desirable Criteria
(The following criteria may be applied if a large pool of applicants exist)

  • Understanding of clinical trials
  • Previous experience of working in a CRO
  • Experience of using an IRT system
  • Fluency in additional languages e.g. French, German
