Almac Sciences (Scotland) focuses on manufacturing high quality peptides for the pharmaceutical research industry. The company has recently moved to new premises at Edinburgh Technopole, as we look to expand our operations in existing and new business areas.

The Role
Working in the peptide operations team, the Technical Leader will lead synthetic peptide projects for our clients to agreed timelines.
The successful candidate will work as part of the project team, manufacturing and analysing peptide products for our clients, whilst line managing others.  Responsibilities will include

  • Technical leadership and primary technical contact for clients on assigned projects
  • Project planning and scheduling
  • Identification of suitable synthetic routes to peptide and / or protein targets and compilation of quotation documents
  • Compliance with safe working practices
  • Ensuring all production methods and results are recorded accurately
  • Working with the team to actively address any technical issues that arise

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Life Science related discipline
  • Line management experience
  • Extensive experience of solid phase peptide synthesis and purification
  • Experience of project leadership
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role

Desirable Criteria

  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry
  • Experience of training members of a team in areas of expertise
  • Working knowledge of multiple analytical techniques
